Setup: Windows NT 4.0
- Open dial-up networking (Start\Programs\Accessories\Dial-Up Networking)
- Create a new phonebook entry. If you're using a laptop, or have several local access numbers, you may want to include the location of the access number in the name.
- Type in the phone number.
- If you have several local access numbers, press the Alternates button and enter them there.
- Select the modem you'll be using.
- Click on the "Server" tab and enter the server details.
- The server type should be PPP.
- Only TCP/IP should be selected in Network Protocols (unless you're using a gaming server that requires IPX/SPX)
- Don't enable software compression or PPP LCP extensions.
- Click on TCP/IP Settings...
- Leave Script settings at the default values. There's no need to run a script to log onto our service.
- Leave Security settings at the default values.
- Leave X.25 settings at their default values
- Your finished phonebook entry should look something like this. Make sure the phone number is a local call for you.
- Now try connecting. Press the dial button and type your username and password into the dialog. Don't forget the @elirion.net suffix.
