Setup: Windows 98
- Open dial-up networking (Start\Programs\Accessories\Dial-Up Networking)
- Double click on Make New Connection to create a new phonebook entry. If you're using a laptop, or have several local access numbers, you may want to include the location of the access number in the name.
- Type in the phone number.
- Select the modem you'll be using.
- Finally, click on Finish to complete creation of your new connection.
- You can edit the connection details after creation. First, right click on the connection in Dial-Up Networking and select Properties:
- Your phonebook entry should look something like this. Make sure the phone number is a local call for you.
- Click on the "Server" tab and enter the server details.
- The server type should be PPP.
- Only TCP/IP should be selected in Network Protocols (unless you're using a gaming server that requires IPX/SPX)
- Don't enable software compression or PPP LCP extensions.
- Click on TCP/IP Settings...
- Leave Script settings at the default values. There's no need to run a script to log onto our service.
- If you're using MLPP or dual-channel ISDN, select the second modem in the MultiLink tab:
- Now try connecting. Press the dial button and type your username and password into the dialog. Don't forget the @elirion.net suffix.
